Founded in San Antonio in 2008, the Academy is a private/public partnership with the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD), which, as mandated by the State, provides the fundamental needs of facilities, teachers and transportation.
Focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), the Young Women’s Leadership Academy offers a rigorous education curriculum, with a broad range of electives that includes the arts and humanities.
The school also focuses on leadership and health and wellness, developing confident, college-bound students and emphasizing critical reading and thinking.
Private funds from the Young Women’s Leadership Academy Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), pay for many critical education components:

- College-prep success initiatives
- STEM-focused enrichment
